40 Day Journey of Faith...Wanna go?

After a two month hiatus, I have dusted off the Burns Bunch Blog ballpoint...

Without question, the main purpose of our coming here 18 months ago was to coordinate the first “Perspectives” course in the UAE.

As of today, we are 40 days away from realizing this dream. To say that our faith is being tested, is an understatement!

But what an exciting position to be in! Afterall, faith is THE commodity of heaven. From an eternal standpoint, it thrills me to know that we are in this place of dependence. Oh sure, I would rather have the evidence that it will all work out, but then it wouldn’t be faith, would it?

First, before I tell you how you can join our journey, if you are unfamiliar with this dynamic, 15 week discipleship course known as “Perspectives on the World Christian Movement”, visit: http://www.perspectives.org/. Nothing has been used in my life like the Perspectives course to help me “see the big picture” of living my life for God’s glory.

Second, because of Dubai's proximity to a high percentage of unreached people groups (we are close to being in the center of the 10/40 window), we believe mobilizing God’s people is more important than doing missions here.

Yes, you read that last sentence correctly. What I didn’t say was that missions was not important. What I’m saying is that mobilizing (recruiting, training, connecting) those who follow Christ in this land is more strategic. A mobilization movement in this land will take mission efforts and multiply them exponentially.

Toward that end, we stepped out several months ago and began to prepare for the big launch. And along the way, God has already done great things.

For starters, He assembled a “cream of the crop” list of instructors who agreed to come and speak. Visit our basic registration site: http://www.uaeperspectives.lifequarters.com/ to see the list.

Second, He has given us four strategic venues across the UAE to offer this course...Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Sharjah.

Thirdly, key pastors and gatekeepers in the country are on board to help lend their influence and support.

So here we are... down the home stretch. And how many have signed up? 15. That's right, a whopping 15 people. How many do we need to cover all the projected expenses? 100! Gulp!

If you have the faith, then pray believing. I'm not exaggerating to say that your investment of time in prayer could literally touch the world.

Over the next 40 days, join us on this journey of faith and pray...
  • that God receives maximum glory from this course.
  • that God raises up 100 people from the "Gideon's 300" stock to sign up.
  • that 100 notebooks make it into the country with no confusion or questions asked.
  • that God would grant favor to our promotional efforts over the next 6 weeks.
  • that God would use me when I preach in two different churches, Dec. 28 and Jan. 4.
  • that our task force would walk by faith.
  • that God will use the Perspectives class to ignite a mobilization movement that will spread across the Arabian Peninsula and to every corner of the 10/40 window.

To God be the Glory! Great things He has done! And, by faith, great things He will do!

Loaded for Bear

Here's the great wannabe hunter! He's counting the days down until he can go with me... we just don't know what year that will be!

Daniel loves his map...can you say "Map"?

Hey, dad, I think I see a big buck!

Daniel has his "game face" on!

We are working on closing the correct eye!

For you "non-hunter" types, this is evidence we do brainwash our young early!

The Burns Bunch girls had a great time in Salalah, Oman. Thought we'd share some of our photos with you ... in case you never get there!

Driving for hours and hours through the "Empty Quarter" we thought we were on the face of the moon. Talk about nothing!
We saw hundreds of camels along the way - including this one that wanted to get a closer look at us!

Once we got there, the scenery was spectacular!

Betsy getting sprayed by water at the "blowhole".
Other on-lookers!
The girls had Henna painted on their hands - don't worry, it's not permanent!

We hiked up to a beautiful waterfall. It was worth the rocky climb!
